About the Author
Roy Uprichard was born in Belfast and, as a mature student, graduated from Queen's University with a BA Hons in Politics and Sociology and an MSSc in Irish Political Studies. Then, for the next twenty-four years he lectured on and managed courses for young adults with learning difficulties. In 2010, in a partially successful assault on middle-age spread, he trekked part of the Annapurna circuit in Nepal. In 2012 he discovered the Camino Frances and, on his retirement in 2014, returned to walk its entirety, recorded in his travel memoir, Restless Hearts. he has since walked on the Camino Portuguese and St Cuthbert's Way in Northumbria. He hopes to continue walking and writing. He lives in North Down with his wife.

I enjoyed the book and the author's observations as he walked the Camino. At times the narrative tended to get bogged down a bit by his long narratives about his childhood and politics but I did enjoy the facts that were a result of them. Each author's past and life experiences add color and flavor to their writing. That is why we can read multiple books on the same subject and see it completely different each time. This book is well worth your time!
I recommend this without hesitation. Packed with details and poetry, it will lift your soul. This beautiful book invites the reader to join in the author's journeys, both physical and spiritual.
The author incorporates numerous tidbits of historical interest and personal observations. I found his insights and anecdotes the best part, but he often gets bogged down in overly poetic prose, decreasing the clarity of what he's saying.
I always enjoying reading books about walking the Camino de Santiago, and this was no exception. I really liked the portions of the book when the author tells about his experience growing up in Northern Ireland and the search for his birth father.
Reading this brought me back to my own Camino, like it was yesterday. A beautifully written, deeply personal love letter to a well loved path.
